The following information came in my most recent Merc newsletter. Am passing along here:

Kansas Consumer Milk Alert!

The Kansas House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources is considering a bill which would limit consumer information on labels about synthetic hormones used to stimulate milk production in cows. This bill would restrict the use of the rBGH-Free claim on the label. This will create a financial hardship on small dairies who have chosen NOT to use these synthetic hormones and make that claim on their labels. Please contact members of the committee ASAP and ask them to vote against this bill and allow producers who use no growth hormones to continue to label their products rbST-Free or rBGH-Free.
