Your Solar Dehydrator In The Garage

Most every family owns a portable solar dehydrator, parked in the garage! That thing you refer to as the family car is a very good solar dehydrator. Just put some herbs in the back window or on the front dash board and face it toward the sunshine. You can bake cookies there also. It really works!

The garage itself is a pretty good place to dry things as well. Take an old window screen, lay out those chopped scallions, or whatever it is you want to dehydrate, and either use some eye screws to hang the screen in a horizontal position from the rafters, or set it above the rafters and use it that way - perfect, out-of-the-way place that is hot and ventilated, but shaded. When everything is dry and snaps easily, it's time to bag it or put it in canning jars for storage.
