The board of the Emporia Community Gardens met on March 11th with garden plot holders to explain the vision, current progress, plot layout, rules, and directives for this first garden season. The gardens are located on the property of the Flint Hills Tech College, and are situated on the south side of the campus adjacent to the shop buildings.
Plot sizes are 15x18 ft. with pathways between plots. Cost is $30/season and includes irrigation, along with pre-season and post-season tilling. A number of educational classes will be available to local gardeners to assist them in their efforts to create successful food raising gardens. We look forward to a great first season!
