Harvest Preservation: Canning, Freezing, Dehydrating and Storage for Beginners
This season’s abundance of fresh produce in our gardens, farmers’ markets, roadside stands and CSAs provides us with the best tasting and most nutritious fruits and vegetables we’ll get all year. Preserving these fruits and veggies now brings those summer fresh flavors and nutrients back to our tables in the depth of winter. Locally grown and harvested foods, preserved at their peak, are superior in nutritional value to the “fresh” produce available at our grocery stores out of season. This class will introduce you to the preferred methods of preservation of many different kinds of foods for year-round enjoyment! Registration required by Mon., Aug. 3.
