Mint Teas In Season!
Wild mints and domesticated varieties are at their peak now - just in time to be making mint teas. Apple mint, spearmint, peppermint, and other mints are being harvested now and we are adding them to the weekly CSA shares here at the farm as samples. Already the feedback has been very good. Mint teas made like sun tea or steeped as a hot drink and sweetened with honey are the afternoon refreshing treat of the season. You can crush a leaf for some "out-of-this-world" aromatherapy. Pop a leaf in your mouth and chew for a sharp, strong mint breath freshener, or add a sprig to other favorite teas.

Mint Ice Cream!
Two of our CSA shareholders recently made mint ice cream with the apple mint they received as part of their weekly shares, then blogged about their experiences on-line. Have a look at Heather Lake's blog : http://thelakefamilyblog.blogspot.com/ (under "Mint Ice Cream, May 27th and "CSA 5/26"). Also read Tracy Simmons blog here about mint ice cream and a recent honeybee swarm story I wrote: http://goobmom23.blogspot.com/ See May 27,31,and June 4 posts about Shepherd's Valley foods and fun.
